Operation on hand rules me out of Galway
Injury Update
It felt like a typical fall when I got off Hard Target at Killarney on Friday, but as I looked down at my hand, I realized something might not be right. As it turned out, I had broken my metacarpal bone and needed surgery to fix it. I'm going to be absent for what looks like five or six weeks, which means I'll be missing the Galway Festival.
Of course, this is heartbreaking news. I always look forward to our summertime rendezvous in Galway, but I'll just have to accept it as it is. I aim to return to action for Listowel in September, and we are extremely fortunate in Ireland to have Dr. Paddy Kenny taking care of us jockeys. Everything is going well with my rehabilitation.
I'm not sure which rides I will specifically miss out on because of Galway's character, but it is still a great pain to be watching from the sidelines. However, the Jumps season proper will arrive before I know it, and I'm already excited about what the winter has to offer.
